Confession: binding is my least favorite part.

So a lot of our quilts… just live without it for a while. Or a long while. Sometimes forever.

They go straight into rotation—movie nights, couch naps, kid forts—and we use them long before they’re technically “finished.”

Maybe that’s actually the point anyway. Quilts meant to be used, not waiting in a pile for perfect timing.

Today is one of them. It’s currently 3 degrees.

Snow fell again yesterday. We took the kids to the biggest hill in town for sledding. Lots of giggles. Fearful close calls with trees. Many, many more memories stored up for future laughs and happiness.

Whatever you are up to today, I hope it’s something that brings happiness, maybe giggles, and future smiles 🥰💕

Oh Srap - sewing after dark makes for less than ideal photos. But it’s real life. Mine. Most days, that’s the only time for sewing. And it’s glorious. Because the rest of the day is filled with amazing love and laughs, and sometimes tears, with the people I love most. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

A break from Christmas sewing means I finally get to share this quilt that came through my studio recently.

When I found out Kandi @kandijanke was sending a Granny Patch my way, I knew it would be fun to quilt… but opening the box and seeing this color palette in person was something else.

Warm golds, soft pinks, lilacs, bright reds, that unexpected pop of aqua—every bit of it was fabulous!

Quilts like this remind me why I love what I do: getting to see how different makers interpret the same pattern in completely unique ways.

For the quilting, Fizz give those tiny squares just enough movement to feel cohesive without taking over.

This block reminds me of my childhood. Growing up, there was a sweet old couple who attended the same church as us.

Fred and MaryEllen Star✨

I mean, even their names are the sweetest. ☺️

Anywho…each Sunday, my brother and I would search for Mr. Fred because he always had candy for us. Peppermints, werthers originals, strawberry candies, smarties, tootsie pops….you name it, he had them!

This little peppermint twist reminds me of those two and the joy we found as kids in simplicity. ✨

👊🏻 Block #3. Done. More candy.

This block reminds me of my childhood. Growing up, there was a sweet old couple who attended the same church as us.

I mean, even their names are the sweetest. ☺️

Anywho…each Sunday, my brother and I would search for Mr. Fred because he always had candy for us. Peppermints, werthers originals, strawberry candies, smarties, tootsie pops….you name it, he had them!

This little peppermint twist reminds me of those two and the joy we found as kids in simplicity. ✨
